Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Luis Enrique is second on Tottenham’s managerial wishlist behind Julian Nagelsmann.

Despite suggestions to the contrary over recent days, Football Insider claimed on Friday that Nagelsmann still remains very much on the top of Tottenham’s wishlist and that the North London club have not given up hope of winning the race for the German.

The report added that Spurs are prepared to wait until the end of the season to get the 35-year-old and are ‘prepared to do whatever it takes’ to get the deal over the line.

The publication also suggested that the Lilywhites believe that qualifying for Europe could give them an advantage over Chelsea in the race for Nagelsmann’s signature.

Romano has now revealed that Tottenham will turn to Enrique if a move for the departed Bayern boss falls through but he explained that the Spaniard is also on the Blues’ shortlist and would be happy to take over at Stamford Bridge.

The journalist said regarding Spurs’ managerial pursuit on the Here We Go Podcast: “Luis Enrique and Nagelsmann are the two frontrunners at the moment, Nagelsmann is the favourite, Enrique is in second place from what I understand.

“Nagelsmann is keen on speaking with Chelsea in the next days and weeks.

“Luis Enrique is the same, he would also love to be in the Premier League as the next step in his career, he would be really happy to take the Chelsea job.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like both Tottenham and Chelsea have the same top two targets in Nagelsmann and Enrique.

I suspect that the reason both clubs have appointed an interim until the end of the season is that Nagelsmann has made it clear that he will not accept a job until the summer.
