Fabrizio Romano has provided a big update on the future of a Premier League midfielder, who is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar.

Several of Tottenham’s experienced midfielders have impressed since Roberto De Zerbi arrived through the door a few weeks ago.

Conor Gallagher delivered his best performance in a Spurs shirt against Aston Villa, with the 26-year-old thriving in the number eight/ten role.

De Zerbi has admitted that he loves Joao Palhinha’s passion, while Rodrigo Bentancur has also been excellent since his return, but the Spurs midfield is expected to see some changes this summer.

Tottenham target Manuel Ugarte is highly likely to leave Man United

Over recent weeks, it has been reported that Tottenham are plotting a move for Manuel Ugarte, who is expected to depart Old Trafford this summer.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Uruguayan, revealing that he is 95 per cent likely to be on his way out of United this summer.

Romano said on the Here We Go podcast: “Some players will leave, especially in midfield. The name of Manuel Ugarte is the name I keep hearing as one of the players expected to leave.

“I would say there is a 95% chance of seeing Ugarte leaving Manchester United in the summer transfer window. His agent is already working on solutions. There is interest from several clubs, so I think Manuel Ugarte is definitely leaving.”

Spurs will face plenty of competition for Ugarte

Some reports have claimed over the last month that Tottenham can land the Uruguay international for £35m this summer after United decided to listen to offers for the midfielder.

However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Ajax, Galatasaray and Monaco have also expressed interest in the Spurs midfield target ahead of the summer window.

Meanwhile, some sources have suggested that Newcastle may also challenge Tottenham for Ugarte’s signature, with the Magpies targeting midfield reinforcements.
