Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sevilla are now ‘closing in’ on signing Bryan Gil on loan from Tottenham.
Romano had taken to social media yesterday to reveal that Sevilla were in advanced talks with Spurs regarding a loan deal for Gil. He explained that the La Liga club were ‘confident’ of getting the deal over the line before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.
However, some sources have since cast doubts about the deal, including Relevo, who reported on Sunday that Spurs were reluctant to loan out the 21-year-old despite their acquisition of Arnaut Danjuma.
The report claimed that Gil was becoming increasingly frustrated with Tottenham and was desperate to leave the club.
It looks like the winger will get his wish if Romano’s latest update is to be believed, with the journalist stating that a medical has been booked ahead of the Spaniard’s loan switch to Seville.
Romano explained that Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli’s conversation with Gil was a crucial factor in the transfer coming to fruition.

I am pleased for Gil as it would have been disastrous for the 21-year-old’s development had he spent another six months warming the bench. The winger’s loan move to Sevilla also makes it unlikely that Lucas Moura will leave before tomorrow’s deadline unless Spurs manage to pull off a major surprise by signing another attacker.
