Fabrizio Romano reports Serie A star ‘would love to join Tottenham’ in January

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Ruslan Malinovskyi is extremely keen on completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur next month.

Tottenham are expected to prioritise signing a right wing-back and an attacking player during the January transfer window, according to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.

Malinovskyi, who has been primarily been used as an impact substitute at Atalanta this season, is one of the attacking players alleged to be on Spurs’ radar

TuttoMercatoWeb claimed on Wednesday that Antonio Conte’s men now have a clear run at the 29-year-old after Marseille withdrew from the race for the player’s signature.

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (28/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) reported on the same day that Atalanta are hopeful that the North London club will reignite their interest in Malinovskyi after failing to agree on a deal for the player over the summer.

The report asserted that the Serie A club want ‘no less than €15m’ (£13.2m) for him and that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side ‘hope’ this can be achieved through ‘a new move’ by Tottenham.

Romano has now revealed that a move to Spurs is a ‘big dream’ of Malinovskyi’s and added that the final decision will come down to Atalanta.

The journalist said on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel: “I’m told the player [Ruslan Malinovskyi] would love to join Tottenham. The player dreams of the Premier League in general and Tottenham would be a big dream for him.

“But at the moment, it depends on Atalanta. Atalanta want at least £13-£15million for Malinovskyi. They are not accepting a loan, so let’s see if Tottenham will decide to act or not.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no reason for Atalanta to accept a loan, given that Malinovskyi’s contract runs out next summer. I suspect that Tottenham view the Ukrainian as a fall back option in case the moves for their top attacking targets fall through next month.
