Fabrizio Romano has revealed that two Premier League clubs have already made contract offers to Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks.

Dembele’s current deal at the Camp Nou runs out in the summer and it was previously reported that Spurs were one of the clubs showing interest in landing the winger in the January transfer window.

TuttoMercatoWeb even claimed recently that the 24-year-old was at the top of both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici’s wishlists.

However, it appeared as though Spurs were set to face defeat in the pursuit of Dembele after reports emerged last week that Barca had opened talks with the winger regarding a new contract and were confident of reaching an agreement.

There now seems to be another twist in the transfer saga, with journalist Gerard Romero revealing on Wednesday that talks over a new deal between the French international and the Catalan giants had broken down.

Romano has now taken to social media to explain that Barca have not offered the winger the salary he is demanding, and described the situation as ‘complicated’.

He added that two English clubs had made contact with the French international regarding a potential summer transfer.

We will have to wait and see how this progress as this speculation might simply be a smokescreen put out by Dembele’s representatives to force Barca into offering the player the salary he is demanding. One would expect plenty of clubs to show interest in the Frenchman should he be available on a free transfer in the summer.
