Fabrizio Romano reveals Celtic have ‘opened talks’ to sign Spurs player

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Celtic have opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a move for Joe Hart.

The goalkeeper arrived at Tottenham as a free agent last summer after his contract with Burnley had ended.

The former England international served as Hugo Lloris’ main understudy last season but barring a few appearances in the Europa League and FA Cup, the 34-year-old struggled to get much of a look in (transfermarkt).

Spurs announced the signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta on an initial loan deal last week and the Italian is expected to provide competition to the Tottenham captain for the number one spot.

Football.London reported following Gollini’s arrival that Nuno Espirito Santo had informed Hart that he was no longer part of his plans.

If Romano’s latest update is to be believed, it looks like the 34-year-old could be on his way to Celtic Park.

The journalist took to social media earlier this morning to reveal that the Scottish giants are in negotiations with Tottenham over signing the experienced goalkeeper who has less than a year to run on his current deal in North London.

Hart was a Jose Mourinho singing and he was brought in for the purpose of adding experience and leadership to the squad. He certainly tried to do that and the 34-year-old has to be applauded for the attitude he showed despite rarely getting any game time. I do not think he would want to be the third choice at Spurs and so this move suits all parties involved.
