Fabrizio Romano reveals Conte wants to ‘change the mentality’ of two Spurs players

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Antonio Conte hopes to change the mentality of Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli over the coming weeks.

While the majority of Tottenham’s squad have been away with their national teams for the last week and a half, Alli and Ndombele were part of the group who have been working with Conte and his coaching staff at Hotspur Way.

In the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast (starting at 14:16:), Romano has revealed that Conte would like to give opportunities to members of the current Spurs squad before deciding whether to dip into the transfer market.

The journalist stated that the former Inter Milan boss wants to examine whether Ndombele and Alli can be part of his project going forward.

Conte allegedly wants to change the mentality of both players over the next few weeks in order to get them to perform at their best.

Romano added that it is only after assessing the squad closely that Conte will sit down with Fabio Paratici next month to discuss potential transfer targets.

It seems to me that Dele and Ndombele are in direct competition for just one place in the starting eleven, if at all.

While Dele’s engine is something Conte will like, the England international probably makes too many unforced errors in possession for the new Spurs boss’ liking.

If Conte can get the best out of Ndombele, that can completely transform our midfield as the Frenchman’s ability is there for all to see.
