Cristian Romero’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has once again come under the spotlight, with fresh reports suggesting the Spurs captain could be on his way out this summer.

Securing the future of Cristian Romero was high on the list for Tottenham Hotspur following their Europa League triumph last season.

Interest in the Argentine was high, with Atletico Madrid keen on landing Romero, but their efforts last term yielded no results.

Romero stayed put in north London, and Spurs finally made a breakthrough this season, extending his contract and handing him a long-term deal.

Tottenham transfer update: Cristian Romero exit chances discussed

Tottenham now find themselves in a relegation scrap and, once again, are worrying about the future of their captain.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Romero has serious chances of leaving Tottenham in the summer.

It is claimed that top clubs have started to make contact, with an exit seen as a possibility despite the new deal signed last summer, while Romero himself is also said to be open to a sale.

Spurs set Cristian Romero asking price amid La Liga interest

With the summer window fast approaching, options remain plentiful for the Argentine, for whom Spurs have reportedly set an asking price.

Clubs in La Liga are said to be the most interested in securing Romero’s signature, according to TeamTalk.

The publication claims that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are all in the race to sign Romero this summer.

Atletico are reported to be the most persistent of the three sides, while Spurs are not willing to let him leave cheaply and are said to value him at upwards of £60 million.
