Fabrizio Romano reveals details as Spurs made contact over re-signing Christian Eriksen

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell on the Last Word On Spurs podcast this week as he claimed that Tottenham inquired about re-signing Christian Eriksen this summer.

Eriksen was sold to Inter Milan back in the January transfer window, although more by necessity than choice as the Dane had just six months left to run on his contract.

The midfielder had spent the previous seven seasons in North London with Spurs, racking up over 300 appearances for the Lilywhites in that time (Wikipedia). In the Premier League, Eriksen recorded 51 goals and 66 assists for Tottenham in just 226 games.

However, things have been far from plain sailing for the Great Dane in Italy since his move, as he managed just eight starts in Serie A (TransferMarkt).

It was reported last week that Inter Milan are open to selling Eriksen this summer, just eight months after signing him from Spurs (Corriere dello Sport).

Fabrizio Romano told The Last Word on Spurs podcast (17 minutes) that Tottenham actually made contact over possibly re-signing their former player: “The truth is that one of my sources told me that Tottenham have asked to take Eriksen back, but two hours later I spoke with Inter and they told me ‘there’s no chance to see him back at Tottenham. This is not a possibility, but I think someone in the club was considering bring him back again. Inter are saying that the player will stay, 100 per cent.”
