Fabrizio Romano reveals ‘final value’ of Timo Werner’s buy option at Spurs

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig have settled on a €17m (£14.6m) option-to-buy for the Timo Werner deal.

Werner is set to return to the Premier League, 18 months after leaving Chelsea to return to RB Leipzig, with the versatile forward now seemingly on his way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

According to various reports, the German international was on the radar of other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, but Ange Postecoglou convinced him Spurs would be the right move for him to revitalise his career (Evening Standard).

One can understand why the Spurs head coach might have been keen on the 27-year-old, who has pace to burn, is a tireless worker off the ball, and can play across the front line.

Potential Timo Werner bargain for Tottenham

It is also quite a risk-free deal, with Romano now confirming on social media that Werner will arrive on a six-month loan deal and that Tottenham will have the option to sign him permanently in June for just £14.6m.

The fact that it is an option to buy rather than an obligation makes this an outstanding deal for Tottenham. At worst, Werner would be a useful squad option for the next six months. If the move works out as Ange envisions, we could have a huge bargain on our hands.
