Fabrizio Romano reveals if PSG are expected to pursue Dele Alli this summer

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain’s decision on whether to pursue Dele Alli this summer will depend on whether Kylian Mbappe stays at the club.

Alli came close to completing a loan move to PSG during the January transfer window but Daniel Levy allegedly pulled the plug on the deal after he was unable to bring in a replacement for the England international.

The 25-year-old has had more game time in the second half of the season than he did up until January but he has certainly not managed to set the world alight.

In fact, some sources indicate that the only reason the former MK Dons man started Tottenham’s last five league games of the season was that the club wanted to put him in the shop window.

Romano believes that PSG could return for the Spurs star’s services this summer but only if they manage to hold on to Mbappe.

He said on Que Golazo Podcast (as relayed by HITC): “To be honest, it depends on Mbappe, because if Mbappe is leaving the club they will need to sign a top striker, and I mean a really big one.

“But if Mbappe stays they could go for this kind of player like Dele Alli, an important midfielder, also maybe something in defence and they need a new right-back, so they have two or three positions to cover and it’s important to see what happens with Mbappe.”

Pochettino was clearly the man who drove PSG’s interest in Alli during January. Now that there are question marks over the Argentine’s future in Paris, it remains to be seen whether a move to the Ligue 1 giants is still an option for the Spurs midfielder. If Alli does leave Spurs, I expect him to move to a club like Everton or West Ham.
