Fabrizio Romano reveals Lamela’s transfer plans this summer amidst Serie A interest

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Erik Lamela has received interest from multiple Italian clubs this summer, but has no desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

Talking to the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Romano revealed that Lamela believes he has a lot to offer next season under Jose Mourinho and an exit is unlikely.

Tottenham signed Lamela from Roma back in 2013 for a then club-record fee of around £25.7m (BBC). This followed a superb season in Serie A in which he netted 15 goals in 33 league appearances for Roma (Wikipedia).

Since then, the Argentine has struggled with injuries in North London, always struggling to hold down a regular place in the starting XI. Despite this, he has made 220 appearances over seven seasons for Tottenham (Wikipedia).

TransferMarkt currently value the attacking midfielder at around £14.4m and there were reports earlier this summer that he could be used in a player-plus-cash deal with Napoli to sign Milik (GiveMeSport).

Romano told the Last Word On Spurs podcast (41 minutes): “For Lamela, we have some interest from Italian clubs but the player is happy at Tottenham. He is convinced that next season he can do something good. So, it’s not so easy to see him out from Tottenham.”
