Fabrizio Romano reveals latest on Tottenham’s Djed Spence pursuit

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make an official offer for Djed Spence and are taking things ‘step by step’.

Yves Bissouma became Tottenham’s third signing of the summer today, following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster, with the Brighton midfielder signing on the dotted line until 2026 (Tottenham).

Football Insider reported a couple of days ago that Spurs are confident of wrapping up a deal for Spence following their capture of Yves Bissouma.

The report claimed that the north London club held further talks about the right-back with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night and are now confident of securing a breakthrough in the negotiations.

However, Romano has now revealed that Antonio Conte’s side have spoken with the England Under-21 international’s agent but have not yet launched an offer since Spurs had been focused on completing Bissouma’s signing, which was announced earlier this afternoon.

Now that the Bissouma deal is wrapped up, I would expect Spurs to push ahead with a move for Spence over the coming days. Given that the right-back is only expected to cost around £15m (The Telegraph), it will probably not take too much time for a deal to be wrapped up.
