Fabrizio Romano reveals star Paratici admires is set to sign new contract

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on the latest episode of his Here We Go podcast that Fabio Paratici is a fan of Lorenzo Pellegrini, but the midfielder is now set to commit his future to Roma.

It was alleged during the summer that Pellegrini was one of the names on Paratici’s radar, with reports from Italy claiming the Lilywhites were ready to trigger the £25m release clause in his contract.

However, some sources indicated at the time that Jose Mourinho was keen to keep a hold of the 25-year-old and the former Spurs boss eventually got his wish as the player stayed put at the Stadio Olimpico.

It subsequently emerged that Roma were ready to double the midfielder’s salary to convince him to sign a new deal with the club.

Romano has now revealed that Pellegrini is ready to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Serie A club.

The journalist revealed that the Italy international, who missed this summer’s European Championship through injury, is close to reaching an agreement with Roma on a contract.

He asserted that the new deal will see the release clause in the player’s contract removed.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Paratici saw Pellegrini as a priority, I suspect he would have pushed harder for the midfielder during the summer, particularly given that he had a modest release clause of £25m. I suspect the Tottenham managing director prefered the likes of Franck Kessie over the Roma man.
