Fabrizio Romano reveals Milan ‘are really close’ to signing alleged Spurs target

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that AC Milan are ‘really close’ to completing a deal for Lille centre-back Sven Botman, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent months.

Antonio Conte is reportedly prioritising singing a left-sided centre-back in the summer and Botman is said to be one of the names at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist (Telegraph).

The Daily Star previously reported that Antonio Conte is a fan of the Netherlands international and added that Spurs were ‘desperate’ to beat Newcastle to the 22-year-old’s signature amidst the Magpies’ interest in the centre-back.

CalcioMercato revealed last week that Milan had also entered the race for Lille star and had opened negotiations with the Ligue 1 club ahead of the summer.

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the Serie A giants are close to making Botman their first signing ahead of the 2022/23 season.

He added that the Rossoneri are in advanced talks with Lille and that the defender is ready to accept their proposal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Botman, in many respects, would be perfect for Spurs, given his age and the fact that he would perfectly suit Conte’s system. So, I am surprised that we are not trying to beat Milan to the 22-year-old’s signature.

That indicates that perhaps there are other names ahead of the Dutchman in Conte’s and Paratici’s wishlist. While Pau Torres would be a dream signing, I suspect we will face a lot of competition for the Villarreal man’s signature.
