Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media to reveal that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Joachim Andersen is now close to joining Crystal Palace.
It was previously reported that Andersen, who excelled on loan at Fulham last season, was one of the central defenders on Fabio Paratici’s radar, with some sources from Denmark even claiming that Spurs were in the driving seat to secure the defender’s signature.
However, speculation linking Tottenham with the 25-year-old has cooled over recent weeks, with the North Londoners seemingly prioritising a move for Atalanta’s Cristian Romero instead.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reported on Saturday that Paratici could look to sign another central defender after swooping for Romero and named Andersen as one of the options the club have discussed.
However, it has since emerged that the Denmark international is on Palace’s radar and Romano has now confirmed that the Lyon star is indeed close to signing for the Eagles.

I am not surprised that Spurs have decided to look beyond Andersen. While the 25-year-old had an impressive campaign at Fulham last time out, he has struggled to make the expected impact since his move to Lyon and was unable to force himself into Denmark’s starting eleven during the Euros. The likes of Kounde and Romero are certainly a cut above the Lyon man.
