Fabrizio Romano reveals Serie A club are ‘closing in’ on alleged Spurs target

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is close to completing a move to Napoli.

Kvaratskhelia hit the limelight due to his impressive performances for Ruben Kazan over the last couple of years but the winger terminated his contract following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and signed a two-year deal with Georgian club Dinamo Batumi (Il Mattino).

Kvaratskhelia’s agent Timur Gurtskaya revealed last year that Spurs showed an interest in his client (Sport Business) and Antonio Conte’s men have been backed to make a move for the 21-year-old this summer (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Area Napoli reported last week that Napoli and Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal were also keen on landing the winger when the transfer window reopens before TMW suggested last week that Napoli were favourites to win the race.

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Kvaratskhelia is edging closer to a move to Naples and that he is ready to accept the Serie A club’s contract offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt Kvaratskhelia was ever really on Conte’s radar as I do not see the winger as a good fit for the Italian system. Despite the 21-year-old’s outstanding ball-carrying ability, he also remains unproven at the top level. So, all in all, I am not surprised that Spurs have seemingly allowed Napoli to swoop for the winger.
