Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Southampton have now signed two of Tottenham’s academy starlets, Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Jayden Meghoma.
Both Amo-Ameyaw and Meghoma are highly thought at Spurs, with both players featuring for the club’s Under-18s last season despite being just 16 years of age.
Amo-Ameyaw, a winger who also featured as a creative midfielder, made 9 appearances in the Under-18 youth league and one in the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22, registering one assist (Transfermarkt).
The attacker has also been a regular for England’s Under-16s over the last couple of years.
Spurs ‘insider’ John Wenham backed Amo-Ameyaw to potentially even get an opportunity for Under-23s set-up during the 2022/23 campaign (Football Insider).
Meghoma, a versatile defender capable of playing as a left-back and a centre-back, also made his senior debut for Tottenham’s Under-18s last season but he only played a total of 134 minutes across two games (Transfermarkt).
Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that both Meghoma and Amo-Ameyaw have completed a move to St Mary’s, with the Saints paying €1m for the pair.

Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that both players have represented England at Under-16 level and started in the Under-18 youth league for Spurs last season, suggests that they were extremely highly thought of at the club.
So, it was probably a case of Meghoma and Amo-Ameyaw pushing for a move to Southampton in order to give themselves a better chance of playing first-team football over the next three years or so.
