Fabrizio Romano reveals Spanish club have made decision over rumoured Spurs target

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sevilla have decided they will not sell rumoured Tottenham target Diego Carlos during the current transfer window.

Carlos has formed a formidable partnership with Jules Kounde at the back for Sevilla, whose impressive defensive record is arguably the main reason they find themselves in the title race this season.

The Daily Mail reported last week that Spurs were interested in a move for Carlos and were set to compete with Newcastle United for the Brazilian’s signature.

Football Insider revealed yesterday Tuesday that Tottenham were willing to offer midfielder Giovani Lo Celso to Sevilla as part of the deal to bring the centre-back to north London.

It was suggested that offering the Argentine to Julen Lopetegui’s side could give Spurs an advantage over the Magpies in the race for Carlos.

Romano has now taken to social media to indicate that Sevilla have decided to keep Carlos at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium and have communicated their decision to the Magpies.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs are likely to sign a new centre-back before the window closes. A right wing-back (Traore), a central midfielder (Amrabat) and an attacker (Diaz?) seem to be the North London club’s priority over the next few days.
