Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs 25-year-old is ‘attracting a lot of interest’

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sergio Reguilon is attracting a lot of interest from around Europe, with Barcelona one of the clubs tracking the Tottenham left-back.

Reguilon had lost his place in Tottenham’s starting eleven to Ryan Sessegnon over recent weeks but the Spaniard has started the last two Premier League matches for Antonio Conte’s men after the 21-year-old picked up a hamstring injury.

Real Madrid have the option to buy back the 25-year-old for £33.6m this summer (ABC) but over recent days, Barcelona have also seemingly entered the race for the Spurs full-back.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero told his Twitch channel Jijantes FC on 18/03/22 ( as relayed by Fichajes.net) that the Catalan giants have identified Reguilon as one of the options to replace Jordi Alba in the summer.

The report claimed that the Spain international doesn’t ‘fit into’ Conte’s long-term plans at Tottenham as a left wing-back.

Barcelona’s interest in Reguilon has now been confirmed by Romano but the journalist revealed that Xavi Hernandez’s side could face quite a bit of competition for the left-back in the summer.

Here’s what Romano tweeted about Reguilon’s situation:

Spurs Web Opinion

Reguilon is certainly a talented player, which explains why there is so much interest in him. However, the jury is still out on whether the Spaniard offers enough going forward to feature as a left wing-back.

It seems like Conte believes that Sessegnon would be a better fit for the wing-back role over the long term. So, I would not be surprised if Spurs put the 25-year-old up for sale in the summer.
