Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs are in touch with midfielder’s camp to try and hijack deal

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that even though Barcelona are confident of winning the race for Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall, Tottenham are refusing to give up on their efforts to hijack the deal.

It has been widely reported over the last couple of days that Bergvall’s impressive showing for Djurgardens this season has caught the eye of several sides across Europe.

This information was also carried by Expressen on Wednesday, who claimed that a whole host of clubs across the continent, including the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, had reached out regarding a deal for the midfielder this month.

However, the outlet explained that the 17-year-old had narrowed down his choice to Spurs and Barcelona, and is expected to make a final decision between those two sides soon.

Barcelona confident of beating Spurs to Bergvall

Romano has now taken to social media to state that Barca are optimistic that Bergvall will arrive at the Nou Camp following their meetings with his camp over recent days.

However, the journalist reveals that Spurs have not given up on their pursuit of the midfielder and are continuing to reach out to the player’s entourage regarding a move.

Romano adds that Tottenham have even made ‘an important proposal’ but despite this, Barca expect the Swede to greenlight a switch to Catalonia.

It sounds like Barca are the clear favourites to land Bergvall but Tottenham evidently believe that the teenager has not made a final decision yet, which is seemingly why they are being persistent in their efforts to hijack the deal.
