Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs have not made an offer for Bundesliga forward

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have not made a move for Wolfsburg’s Wout Weghorst this summer despite the striker reportedly being on the North London club’s radar.

Harry Kane’s confirmation on Tuesday that he is set to stay at Spurs this summer came as a big boost to Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.

However, the Lilywhites are still on course to go into the season without a recognised backup for Kane, having not replaced Carlos Vinicius, who returned to Benfica at the end of his loan spell in N17 last season.

Weghorst is one of the names who has been proposed as a target for Spurs, with The Athletic reporting earlier in the summer that the Lilywhites could make a move for the Dutch international.

Romano has now revealed in an interview to The Last Word On Spurs (at 15:40) that the Wolfsburg star is one of the options for the Lilywhites.

The journalist claimed that the Dutch international’s agent has a good relationship with Fabio Paratici.

However, he stated that Wolfsburg have not received any official offer from Tottenham for Weghorst to date.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not as fussed about a backup striker as I was when Mourinho was in charge. This is because Nuno has shown that he can deploy a fluid system with Son, Bergwijn and Moura interchanging positions upfront in case Kane is not available. In contrast, we looked toothless in attack under Jose when did not have a target man.
