Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out of the race for Nahitan Nandez, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
Nandez has been a consistent performer since moving to the Serie A from Boca Juniors back in 2019 and the midfielder was one of the few shining lights for Cagliari last season.
Reports first emerged last week that Tottenham were readying a €10m (£8.5m) loan offer for the midfielder, with an obligation to purchase him for a further €20m (£17m).
The rumours then gathered steam, with sources suggesting that the 25-year-old was keen on a move to North London.
Gianluca Di Marzio also stated a few days ago that Fabio Paratici was ready to get ‘serious’ in his pursuit of Nandez.
However, if Romano’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now abandoned their pursuit of the Cagliari star in favour of a move for Metz teenager Pape Sarr, who they hope to seal a deal for over the next few hours.
Romano revealed that Nandez could be on his way to Atalanta as a part of a swap deal to bring Sam Lammers to Cagliari.

I am not too disappointed by this news as Nandez would have been nothing more than a utility signing. While he could have done a job as a squad player, he was unlikely to improve our starting eleven.
