Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs-linked star is set to sign new contract with club

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Tottenham target Marcelo Brozovic is on the verge of penning a new contract with Inter Milan.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in Brozovic, with head coach Antonio Conte previously said to be keen on securing a reunion with Brozovic following their time together at Inter (CalacioMercato).

His current deal with the Nerazzurri is due to expire at the end of the season, but any chance of the Serie A holders losing him on a free transfer has now been shut down by Romano.

The transfer guru has reported that Brozovic is set to sign fresh terms with Inter with a verbal agreement with the club implemented as long as weeks ago.

Romano added that, despite rumours of a move away from the Italian giants, the 29-year-old was keen to stay in Milan with a confirmation of his new contract expected imminently.

Brozovic has been a fixture in the Inter’s midfield since joining the club in 2015, making 275 appearances for the club in that time (Transfermarkt).

Brozovic would have been a prime candidate to feature in Conte’s midfield, but the club signing Rodrigo Bentancur last month will now rule out any chance of Tottenham signing him. It now means that Spurs should now look to other options in the summer if there is more surgery needed in midfield.
