Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs man is still attracting interest from Spain

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that, with just a week left to go in the transfer window, Harry Winks is attracting interest from La Liga clubs.

With Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso having departed Spurs on loan to Napoli and Villarreal respectively, Antonio Conte’s men are reportedly focused on offloading Winks and Sergio Reguilon before the transfer window shuts (Football.London).

While reports over the past few days have indicated that Reguilon is of interest to the likes of Nottingham Forest (The Athletic), Atalanta (Bergamo Corriere), Lazio (CalcioMercato) and Nice (The Mirror -21/08, p68), the speculation over Winks’ future has gone quiet.

The Times reported last week that while Everton showed interest in the England international earlier in the transfer window, Frank Lampard did his homework on the England international and decided he did not want to bring him to Goodison Park.

Romano has now said in the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast (23/08/22) that Winks is attracting interest from Spain and other European countries.

The journalist added that the North London club are swiftly trying to find ‘a solution’ for the 26-year-old before the transfer window shuts.

Spurs Web Opinion

It was reported earlier this month that the likes of Winks, Lo Celso and Ndombele were ‘hesitant’ to commit to certain moves despite clubs showing interest (Daily Mail).

I suspect that some Premier League sides did explore a deal for Winks but he turned them down and decided to wait for better offers. Those clubs seem to have moved on to other targets and no serious offer seems to have materialised for the 26-year-old.

If Winks does end up moving to a La Liga club, it would probably have to be a loan move as not many clubs in Spain can afford a permanent deal for the midfielder.
