Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs star is expected to leave club this summer

Fabrizio Romano has said that Lucas Moura is not holding any talks with Sao Paulo at the moment and added that the Brazilian is expected to leave Tottenham at the end of the season.

If this is to be Moura’s last season at Tottenham, it does not look likely to be a memorable one for the 30-year-old, who has been out of action for the majority of the campaign so far as a result of multiple injuries.

UOL reported last week that the winger is in talks with Sao Paulo regarding a potential return, with the Brazilian club and the player both said to be keen for the transfer to go through this summer.

However, the report ruled out the possibility of the former Paris Saint-Germain man returning to his boyhood club in January.

The Daily Mail also subsequently suggested that Moura could be on his way out of Tottenham next summer, and added that the player could attract interest from Premier League clubs as well as from clubs across the continent.

Romano has now taken to Twitter to reveal that the Spurs star’s entourage are currently not holding any discussions with Sao Paulo.

The journalist also added that despite Tottenham reportedly having the option to extend his contract (Football.London), the player is expected to leave on a free transfer a at the end of the current campaign.

Spurs Web Opinion

As long as Moura recovers from his injury woes, I feel that he could easily play for another two to three years in Europe instead of returning to Brazil next summer. I expect Spurs to activate the option to extend the 30-year-old’s contract by a further twelve months so that they can get a fee of around £8m-£10m at the end of the season.
