Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to officially confirm their capture of Fraser Forster ‘very soon’.
Forster has made more than 150 appearances for Southampton since signing for the club from Celtic back in 2014 (Transfermarkt).
The 34-year-old, who has been capped six times for England, had fallen behind Alex McCarthy in the pecking order over recent years.
The goalkeeper’s contract with the Saints runs out next month, with Romano confirming on Tuesday that he has already agreed on a contract with Tottenham.
According to 90 min, Spurs first held talks with Sam Johnstone but decided to move for Forster instead when the Baggies star expressed an intention to go elsewhere.
The Saints shot-stopper has allegedly agreed to take a wage cut in order to move to the North London club from the South Coast (Football Insider).
Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are expected to announce Forster’s capture shortly, with the paperwork now ready.
Fraser Forster will be announced as new Tottenham player very soon. Paperworks ready as he's gonna join Spurs on a free transfer, he was considered the best option on the market for a backup GK. ⚪️🤝 #THFC

This is a smart signing from Spurs, given that Forster is homegrown and has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt. While Gollini was seemingly popular among the squad, I believe Conte will now breathe a lot easier knowing that Forster can step in if Hugo gets injured.
