Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Genoa are now making progress in their efforts to sign Djed Spence on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been widely reported over recent days that Genoa are keen on signing Spence on a permanent deal from Spurs on the back of his loan spell at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium during the second half of last season.
Djed Spence spent the second half of last season at Genoa
Calciomercato reported on June 4 that the Serie A club’s CEO Andres Blazquez had flown to London to strike an agreement with Spurs regarding the right-back.
The outlet explained that Genoa do not plan on activating the €10m (£8.5m) option to buy the 23-year-old in their loan agreement with Spurs.
Instead, the Italian club are thought to be looking for a discount, with Blazquez hopeful that he would be able to strike a deal, given the good relationship he has with Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board.
Talks between Genoa and Tottenham are advancing
Romano has now taken to social media platform X to reveal that Genoa are making progress in their efforts to land the Spurs defender on a permanent transfer.
The journalist claimed that negotiations between the Premier League side and the Serie A club over Spence are now heating up.
He added that all parties are keen on reaching an agreement and that the deal could be finalised before the end of this month.
“Negotiations continue with all parties keen on reaching an agreement in June.”
Spence made 16 appearances for Genoa in Serie A during the second half of last season (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the reports over the last few days, it does not appear as if Tottenham have proposed the idea of using Spence as a part of a part-exchange agreement to sign Albert Gudmundsson.
That suggests that Spurs have moved on from their pursuit of the Genoa forward and turned their attention to other targets.
