Fabrizio Romano reveals ‘very good chance’ Spurs-linked striker is sold for £15m

Fabrizio Romano thinks Serhou Guirassy is likely to have several options to leave Stuttgart in the summer, suggesting that many clubs would be willing to activate the rumoured Tottenham target’s release clause.

Tottenham have coped better than many people expected with the loss of Harry Kane, with many of their attacking players chipping in with goals.

Richarlison has been in exceptional form over recent months while Son Heung-min has also shown that he can be extremely dangerous in the number nine role.

Despite this, reports over recent weeks have indicated that Tottenham will prioritise signing a marquee centre-forward in the summer (Football Insider).

One man who was previously mooted as a target for Spurs is Guirassy, who is having an exceptional season at Stuttgart, having found the back of the net 22 times across all competitions so far.

It was even reported ahead of the January window that Tottenham would be the Guinea international’s preferred destination if he were to leave the Bundesliga club (The Sun).

Spurs-linked Serhou Guirassy has a £15m release clause

Romano has now explained that Guirassy’s €17.5m (£15m) release clause was close to being triggered in January and added that a few clubs, including West Ham, could do so in the summer.

The journalist told CaughtOffside: “For Guirassy the release clause is an incredible opportunity. It is still around €17.5million.

“And it was really close to being triggered in the January transfer window. Stuttgart did an amazing job of convincing the player to stay at the club and focus on the AFCON and re-join them and then leave at the end of the season.

“So, yes, I think he is going to leave in the summer. In the Premier League some clubs were interested like West Ham, let’s see if they return. But I’m sure Guirassy will have very good chances to leave in the summer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Guirassy would be an extremely tempting option for a number of clubs as the striker can be signed for a fraction of what the likes of Ivan Toney, Santiago Gimenez and others would cost. I would not be surprised if Tottenham are among the clubs vying for the Stuttgart star’s signature.
