Fabrizio Romano reveals what he expects Tottenham to do this summer

Fabrizio Romano says that we could see additions at centre-back and in the central midfield at Tottenham this summer.

While Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge has been a relatively successful one despite the team’s recent downturn in form, it is clear that the club need more quality if they are to challenge the best sides in the Premier League next year.

With Tottenham set to be back in Europe next season, the Aussie coach would want to bulk up the squad in order to give the side the best chance of competing on multiple fronts.

The Spurs boss has already confirmed that the club will look to strengthen further at centre-back this summer despite the capture of Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January (The Standard)

Meanwhile, various outlets have suggested over the last few weeks that signing a new number six is seen as a priority by the North London club this summer (Football.London).

Tottenham will look at midfielders and centre-backs

Romano has now confirmed that we can expect Tottenham to make additions in both of those aforementioned positions when the transfer window opens in June.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think yes, I think it’s a possibility for Tottenham to move on different positions. Centre-back is a possibility.

“Midfield is something that they want to cover in the summer transfer window, also because the expectation is for [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg to leave the club with one year left on his contract. So the idea is for Tottenham to do something in that position, then there is a top talent like Bergvall coming in.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Spurs to make five additions this summer – a versatile forward, a number six, a number eight, a fourth-choice centre-back and potentially a full-back who can play in either flank.

The bulk of the club’s transfer funds will likely be spent on a number six and a forward, with most of the other additions likely to be more squad players than guaranteed starters.
