Fabrizio Romano reveals what he has heard about Juve’s rumoured Conte interest

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that as things stand, there has been no contact between the Juventus hierarchy and Antonio Conte’s representatives.

Reports from Italy over the last week have suggested that the Spurs head coach could return to the Allianz Stadium at the end of the season.

Calciomercato reported a few days ago that the Tottenham head coach has pushed back talks over the renewal of his contract, partly because he wants to see if Juve make an approach for him.

However, Spurs fans’ fears about losing Conte were somewhat allieviated by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, who revealed on Thursday that Spurs have the option to trigger an extension in the Italian’s contract at any point in which they see fit.

Gold also stated that those close to the 53-year-old have said that he would be happy to discuss a new deal with Tottenham.

Romano has now revealed on his YouTube channel (starting at 3:35) that as things stand, Juve are not in the process of firing Massimiliano Allegri and are not actively looking for a replacement.

He revealed that the 55-year-old will get a chance to turn around Juve’s form after the international break.

Romano also cited the ‘huge’ salary that Conte is on at Tottenham and suggested that it might be a stumbling block for the Serie A giants, given their financial issues.

The journalist added that there has been no contact between Conte and his former employers, and the Spurs head coach is focused on his project in North London.

Spurs Web Opinion

One of the biggest reasons I do not see Conte returning to Juve (or any other Serie A club) in the near future, is the economic state of the club at the moment. The Italian will want some resources to shape the team in his own image, and he knows he is not going to get that at the Allianz Stadium.
