Fabrizio Romano reveals what he has heard about rumoured Spurs bid for Depay

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have not made an offer to Barcelona for Memphis Depay so far this summer.

Following the big-money capture of Richarlison from Everton this summer, Spurs now have plenty of depth in their forward line with the Brazilian competing with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura for a place in the front three.

However, this has not put an end to the speculation linking the North London club with a move for Depay.

Sport reported last week that Tottenham had stepped up their pursuit of the Dutchman and even claimed that the Lilywhites had already presented an offer to the player’s representatives.

El Partidazo de COPE journalist Helena Condis Edo revealed a few days ago that the Catalan giants would be willing to sell Depay for €15m (£12.7m) this summer.

However, Romano has now said that Tottenham have not substantiated their interest in the Barca star with an offer.

He told GiveMeSport: “For Depay, at the moment, I’m told there has been no bid from Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do think Depay is underrated by Premier League fans because of his previous struggles at Man Utd.

The 28-year-old has improved significantly since then and I would have certainly taken him at Spurs had we not signed Richarlison.

However, following the Brazilian’s arrival, I do not see why we would need another versatile forward of the Dutchman’s profile.
