Fabrizio Romano reveals what he’s heard from Bale’s side about his future

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that those close to Gareth Bale have once again strongly denied rumours that the Welshman is planning to retire after the European Championships this summer.

There is a big question mark over Bale’s future, with Carlo Ancelotti seemingly opening the door for the Welshman to stay at the club next season by praising him in his first press conference as Real Madrid manager.

However, Marca have revealed that Ancelotti’s arrival does not change Real Madrid’s stance on Bale, with the club still looking to get the 31-year-old’s salary off their wage bill.

Some publications have alleged that Bale is also considering hanging up his boots after the European Championships.

Despite the forward’s agent Jonathan Barnett quashing those rumours, the speculation about Bale potentially retiring refuses to go away.

Romano has revealed that he is now definitively hearing from Bale’s camp that he has no retirement plans. The journalist also revealed that the Wales international will have a chat with Carlo Ancelotti about his future.

Spurs Web Opinion

The only reason I think there might be some truth to the rumours about Bale contemplating retirement is because of his admission after Tottenham’s 4-2 win over Leicester that he has already decided what he is going to do but that it would cause chaos if he revealed what it was.

That would be a strange thing to say irrespective of whether he hoped to stay at Madrid or return to Spurs since the three parties still have to sit down for talks. Perhaps, he has already decided that he is going to accept a payoff from Real Madrid and call time on his career.

If that were the case, Bale’s camp would be denying the rumours as Real Madrid would have the upper hand in the negotiations if they know that the player is looking for a payoff.
