Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are preparing to make a concrete bid for Brennan Johnson after Ange Posteocoglou approved the move for the Nottingham Forest star.
Over the past 48 hours, the speculation linking Johnson with a late move to Spurs has gone into hyperdrive.
We relayed a report from The Telegraph on Saturday which claimed that Tottenham are ready to open talks over a deal for the 22-year-old, with the North London club keen on securing the versatile attacker’s services before the transfer deadline.
The report claimed that while Forest value the player at over £50m, Spurs were hoping that £40m plus some bonuses would be enough to clinch the deal.
Alasdair Gold subsequently took to social media on Sunday to state that it is Postecoglou who is the driving force behind Tottenham’s interest in Johnson, with the Australian seeing the player as a good fit for his system and valuing his versatility.
Interest growing from Spurs in Brennan Johnson
Romano has now become the latest journalist to report on Spurs’ interest in the Wales international, claiming that an approach from the Lilywhites is now imminent.
He also backed up Gold’s assertion that Postecoglou has given the green light to bring Johnson to Hotspur Way.
However, Romano added a deal will not be easy for Tottenham to pull off as Forest have already rejected ‘big proposals’ for their academy graduate this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion
It has now been widely reported that it is Postecoglou who is insisting on signing Johnson, which is why I am fully on board with this transfer. The Australian clearly sees something he likes in the 22-year-old and seems to fancy his chances of getting the best out of him.
