Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there are still some big differences to be ironed out in the negotiations between Tottenham and Juventus over Dejan Kulusevski.
Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici was Juve’s sporting director when the Old Lady brought Kulusevski from Atalanta two years ago.
However, the winger has struggled for game time under Massimiliano Allegri this season (Transfermarkt).
The Athletic revealed on Friday that Spurs had made an approach to sign Kulusevski on loan after being frustrated in their attempts to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz, who is expected to complete a move to Liverpool.
La Repubblica subsequently revealed that Antonio Conte’s men had moved into pole position to sign the 21-year-old ahead of their North London rivals Arsenal.
However, Romano has explained that Tottenham still have plenty of work to do to get a deal for Kulusevski over the line.
The journalist revealed that Spurs want to sign the Sweden international on loan, with an option to buy for €30m (£24.9m) that would become an obligation if certain conditions are met.
However, Juve apparently want to insert a mandatory clause to buy Kulusevski and want the fee to be at €40m (£33.2m).

So, if Romano is to be believed, not only is there a near £10m difference in Spurs’ and Juventus’ valuations of Kulusevski but the two clubs also cannot agree on the nature of the permanent clause.
So, it sounds like there are plenty of things for the two clubs to still work out, with not much time left in the transfer window. Given that Spurs have missed out on their other targets, one would expect the North London club to cave and agree to Juve’s terms.
