Fabrizio Romano reveals when Hugo Lloris’ Tottenham farewell takes place

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Hugo Lloris will say his farewell to his Tottenham teammates and staff tomorrow after agreeing on a deal to move to Los Angeles FC.

On Friday, news broke that Lloris had agreed on a verbal contract to move to LAFC, bringing to an end his 11-and-a-half-year stay at Tottenham (Guardian).

He was the club captain for the vast majority of that duration and has undoubtedly been the best goalkeeper that the club has had in the Premier League era.

The World Cup winner might not leave the Lilywhites on a high, having been relegated to third choice this season behind Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster this season, but there is no doubting the legacy he has created at the North London club since arriving from Lyon back in 2012.

Lloris to say his farewell on Sunday

Romano has now taken to social media to provide more details on his move, revealing that the Frenchman has signed a new deal with the MLS club until 2025, with the option of extending his contract by multiple years.

The journalist added that Lloris will say his goodbyes to everyone at Hotspur Way over the weekend, with the Spurs legend now waiting on his Visa to travel to the United States.

Because of Hugo’s decline during his final 18 months or so at Spurs, his legacy has perhaps suffered a little in the eyes of some fans.

However, the overwhelming majority of the Tottenham fan base will undoubtedly recognise the 36-year-old as one of the club’s biggest modern-day legends.

It is worth remembering that Hugo was one of the best in the world at his pomp and could have joined any club in the world, but he stayed loyal to the Lilywhites.
