Fabrizio Romano reveals whether Spurs will move for midfielder after Dele sale

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are not expected to bid for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

Tottenham have seemingly had a midfield clear out this window, with Tanguy Ndombele returning to Lyon on loan, Giovani Lo Celso expected to complete a temporary move to Villereal (Cesar Luis Merlo) and Dele Alli on the verge of joining Everton (Matt Law).

Some sources have suggested that Spurs remain interested in a late move for a midfield addition, with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma alleged to be on the club’s radar (Nabil Djellit).

It was previously reported that Luiz was another player that the North London club were looking at as a potential target (The Daily Mail).

However, Romano has now taken to social media that Spurs will not make a move for the Brazilian despite offloading Alli.

The journalist added that Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal are also not expected to swoop for the midfielder, insisting that the 23-year-old will stay put at Villa Park.

Although I did not expect Spurs to complete any other signings on deadline day apart from Kulusevski and Bentancur, I am surprised that the club have seemingly let Dele, Ndombele and Lo Celso go without bringing in an attacking midfielder.
