Fabrizio Romano believes that Tottenham Hotspur will want to bring a midfielder through the door before the transfer window closes.
Midfield changes for Tottenham this summer
There has been a lot of turnover in the middle of the park for Tottenham ahead of the new season, with Ange Postecoglou continuing to put his own imprint on the Spurs squad.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has departed the club while two talented young teenagers, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, have linked up with the squad.
More departures are expected in midfield, with Giovani Lo Celso being widely tipped to leave the club on a permanent basis (Football Insider) while Oliver Skipp is also thought to be keen on departing in search of regular game time (The Telegraph).
Spurs could sign a new midfielder next
Romano believes that Ange Postecoglou will want to bring in another new face in midfield so that he has sufficient cover.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think they will look at something in the midfield. From what I am hearing, they will consider other positions (more than right-back). So let’s see in the midfield what happens.”
“I think it’s also important to understand what’s going to happen with Lo Celso, because if Lo Celso leaves after Hojbjerg, it could be the case for Tottenham to do something in that position.”
Interestingly, it turns out that one of Postecoglou’s top midfield targets might now be back on the market, with various outlets now reporting that Conor Gallagher has returned to Chelsea after his proposed move to Atletico Madrid has hit a major roadblock (Guardian).

I suspect Ange would want one more all-action midfielder in the Gallagher mould and a top-class winger who is good in one-vs-ones.
If he gets those, the Australian will be quietly confident of going toe-to-toe against the best sides in the Premier League this season.
