Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso was omitted from the Tottenham squad for their friendly against Bayern Munich since the Argentine is expected to leave the club before the end of the month, with a number of clubs continuing to monitor the midfielder’s situation.

Tottenham faced Bayern Munich on Saturday
Lo Celso, along with Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur and Micky van de Ven linked up with the Spurs squad at the start of last week following their international duty.
While Romero, Bentancur and van de Ven all featured for Spurs in the 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich, Lo Celso was not part of the squad for the fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which did not come as much of a surprise.
The Argentine is down to the final year of his deal at Spurs and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club over the last couple of months.
Romano has now confirmed that the 28-year-old’s absence on Saturday was directly linked with his future, with an exit likely over the coming weeks.
The journalist added that Aston Villa, along with Lo Celso‘s former club, Real Betis, remain interested in the midfielder while plenty of other clubs are also watching the situation.

Lo Celso is set to leave Spurs this month
Romano revealed on X: “Giovani Lo Celso was not part of Tottenham squad today as he can still leave in the final 20 days.
“Real Betis and Aston Villa are interested and still keen with more clubs monitoring the situation.”

Lo Celso appears to have made the decision to exit Tottenham, with the only question being where he will end up.
The midfielder will have a big say on his next destination, given that he only has a year left on his deal.
If Aston Villa are still keen, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will continue to push to use him as a makeweight for Jacob Ramsey.
