Fabrizio Romano rules out possibility of transfer target joining Spurs or any PL club

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Andreas Christensen has decided he will not be joining another Premier League club when his contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer.

According to reports, Christensen has no intention of renewing his contract at Chelsea and seeks to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

The Daily Star revealed last month that Spurs were one of several Premier League clubs who had shown interest in snapping up the centre-back.

The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, AC Milan and Barcelona are also thought to be keen on the Denmark international.

Spanish publication Sport claimed a couple of weeks ago that Barca were leading the race for the 25-year-old and the Catalan club were in talks with the player’s entourage.

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that, despite Christensen receiving several proposals from English clubs, the defender will not remain in the Premier League as a sign of respect for Chelsea.

He revealed that Bayern and Barca were the front-runners to snap up the centre-back in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I thought Christensen would be a much more realistic target for Spurs than Antonio Rudiger but this update from Romano seemingly also rules out the Dane as a possible target. I expect Conte and Paratici to look towards the Serie A for new central defenders in the summer.
