Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham Hotspur might have to wait until next summer if they wish to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with the Serie A club having no intention of cashing in on the player this month.
Ederson has come on leaps and bounds since his switch to Bergamo 18 months ago, with the central midfielder having found the back of the net six times across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).
It was reported by Sky Sports in their Transfer Centre (16/01/24 at 17:48) last week that the Lilywhites have been tracking the Brazilian this season.
A couple of days ago, Tutto Atalanta also backed up Spurs’ interest in the 24-year-old but they said that Ange Postecoglou’s men are expected to face competition from Newcastle for the midfielder.

Ederson is not for sale this month despite Spurs links
Romano has now revealed that Ederson is wanted by clubs across Europe, including Juventus, but he added that Atalanta have no plans of selling their star man before the February 1 deadline.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham are one of many clubs scouting Ederson, as well as many other clubs around Europe, in Spain, in England, in Italy too, because Juventus also like the player and have been scouting Ederson.
“He’s been doing fantastic for Atalanta this season. I think he’s going to be one of the names for the summer transfer window because they have no intention of letting him go in January.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It has been well-documented that Spurs are after a midfielder this month but it is anybody’s guess at this point about who the club’s top targets are.
While Gallagher might be Postecoglou’s preferred option, it remains to be seen who Tottenham will turn to if a deal for the Chelsea star proves beyond them.
