Fabrizio Romano says future of Spurs midfielder will depend on new manager

Fabrizio Romano has now suggested that Tottenham Hotspur will allow the incoming head coach to decide whether or not to keep Giovani Lo Celso.

Over the last few weeks, multiple outlets have backed Aston Villa to make a move for Lo Celso this summer.

The first of those came from The Daily Mail, who revealed on April 24 that the Midlands club had been impressed by the midfielder’s recent displays for Villarreal.

The publication claimed that Unai Emery wanted to work with the on-loan Tottenham man for a third time, having previously coached him at Paris Saint-Germain and Villarreal.

This was subsequently backed up by Football.London, who reported recently that the Villans may face competition from the Yellow Submarine for the Argentine’s signature.

The report suggests that Tottenham would be open to cashing in on the midfielder as they are looking to recoup some money from his sale.

While Romano has now also suggested that Emery is keen on reuniting with Lo Celso, he added that the decision regarding the former Real Betis man could depend on the incoming head coach in N17.

When asked about Villa’s interest in the Spurs midfielder, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “Aston Villa, there will be big investments.

“They want to do something important in the market and Lo Celso’s a player really, really appreciated by Unai Emery, so he’s on the list, for sure. But It depends also on Tottenham’s new coach.”

I think the incoming head coach would want to take a look at the likes of Winks, Lo Celso and Spence during pre-season before deciding whether they would fit his tactical set-up.

The Argentine also might perhaps want to try one last time to rescue his Tottenham career.
