Fabrizio Romano says Juventus are ‘favourites’ to sign midfielder linked with Spurs and Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano has now stated that Juventus are at the front of the queue to secure Tottenham target Teun Koopmeiners while adding that Liverpool also have their eye on the Atalanta star.

Koopmeiners has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Serie A over the last couple of years and the Dutchman is now being backed to make a step up to a bigger club in the summer.

Tottenham are one of the clubs mooted as a potential destination for the 26-year-old, with some outlets suggesting last month that the Lilywhites have already begun work on a summer deal for the player (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

Over recent weeks, it has been reported that Juventus are also keen on securing the Atalanta star when the transfer window reopens in June (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Last week, Koopmeiners himself told De Telegraaf that he wants to seek a new challenge in the summer and revealed that he had communicated his intention to his club.

Juventus are the front-runners for Teun Koopmeiners

Romano has now revealed that the Bianconeri are at the front of the queue for the midfielder’s signature, having eyed him for a long time.

The journalist did not make any mention of Spurs but suggested that Liverpool’s move for the former AZ Alkmaar man depends on who replaces Jurgen Klopp at the helm.

Romano told CaughtOffside: “Juventus are the favourites to sign Teun Koopmeiners as he has been their top target for a long time, they want him and the relationship with Atalanta is very good.

“Liverpool have been scouting him but again, a lot will depend on the decision on who will replace Jurgen Klopp as manager – it’s too early to mention Liverpool’s plans without a decision on the manager.”

There is no doubt that Postecoglou will want to sign a top-class midfielder in the summer, with both Hojbjerg and Skipp likely to depart in the summer. Given the success that Spurs have had with recruits from Serie A over the last few years, Koopmeiners would undoubtedly be one of the options on their radar.
