Fabrizio Romano says Spurs are no longer prioritising a move for 27-year-old

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur do not consider the signing of Clement Lenglet a priority and are now focusing on other left centre-back targets.

On Tuesday, we relayed a report from Sport which revealed that Lenglet had agreed a three-year contract with Spurs ahead of a potential permanent switch to the North London club.

The report stated that Tottenham and Barcelona had been in negotiations over a transfer fee for the centre-back over the past few days and that all parties were keen on reaching an agreement.

It was asserted that a deal worth around €10m (£8.6m) can be struck between the two clubs for the Frenchman over the coming days.

Spurs are keeping Lenglet deal on the back burner

However, Romano has now taken to social media to claim that Spurs are not advancing on a deal for Lenglet as they no longer consider the Barca man a priority.

The journalist adds that Ange Postecoglou’s men have instead turned their attention to Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, Wolfsburg’s Micky Van de Ven and one other unnamed player.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham do not sign Lenglet this summer, the club would need to bring in two new left centre-backs.

My gut feeling is they will look to snap up Tapsoba over the coming days before trying to sign the Barcelona star as cover for a cut-price fee later in the window.
