Fabrizio Romano has said that neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Son Heung-min’s entourage are in a rush to agree on a new deal, with the forward currently quite happy at the North London club.
Son is currently the second longest serving senior player at Spurs after the departures of Harry Kane and Eric Dier in successive transfer windows.
The South Korean is not just the club’s biggest superstar and captain but he is also very much of the face of the side, having built a special connection with Tottenham fans during his eight and a half years in North London.
Last month, Football Insider reported that Tottenham want to offer the 31-year-old a new bumper contract, which includes a pay rise to reflect his importance to the side.
The publication added that the forward is ready to commit as he is thrilled by the impact of Ange Postecoglou and is eager to play a key role in the club’s future.

No concrete contract developments for Heung-min Son
Romano has revealed that he has not heard of Spurs initiating any contract talks with Son’s entourage at the moment.
The journalist insisted that the experienced star’s future is not a matter of immediate concern since both parties are keen to continue their relationship.
When asked about the speculation over Son being offered a new contract, Romano told GiveMeSport: “I’m not aware of anything concrete at this stage. I think it will take some time. But now Tottenham’s focus is on the January transfer window and new incomings to give Postecoglou what he needs.
“I’m sure Son is happy at Tottenham, so it’s not a problem to discuss in the following months or years because Tottenham are not in a rush, and neither is Son.”

Spurs will certainly not think about Son’s contract until the end of the January transfer window as most of the club’s resources would be dedicated to pushing through all the planned incomings and outgoings.
However, I am certain that the Lilywhites will want to tie down Son to a new contract before the end of the season as they would be aware that the forward’s head could potentially be turned by a ridiculous offer from Saudi Arabia next summer.
