Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Tottenham coaching staff are extremely pleased with the way that James Maddison has settled both on and off the pitch since arriving through the door in the summer.
Maddison arrived at Spurs with an impressive CV, having posted some eye-catching numbers for what was, at times, a struggling Leicester City side over the past couple of years.
However, the England international has seemingly taken his game to a new level at Tottenham, now that he is surrounded by better players and operating in a system that appears to suit him well.
The 26-year-old has been at the heart of most of the good things Spurs have done in their first four Premier League games, having already amassed four goal contributions.
Maddison has been nominated for the August Player of the Month award and deservedly started for England in the Euro Qualifiers against Ukraine on Saturday.
Maddison is impressing at Spurs on and off the pitch
The attacking midfielder has already been hailed as the signing of the summer by some pundits (Sky Sports), and Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are over the moon with the deal they got for the player.
The journalist wrote on his Substack: “The coaching staff are very happy with James on and off the pitch. In training, he’s been excellent, and he’s a very popular figure also among his new teammates in London.
“Tottenham believe they got an excellent deal with Maddison and I was told that they feel he’s going to be part of their present and future project under Ange Postecoglou.”
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that Maddison is the bargain of the summer and one can see why Postecoglou instantly identified him as one of his top targets as the 26-year-old’s attributes are perfect for playing as the most advanced midfielder in the Australian’s system.
