Fabrizio Romano says Spurs ‘keep sending scouts’ to watch £40m-rated star

Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham continue to send scouts to the Netherlands to run the rule over Santiago Gimenez ahead of the January transfer window.

Gimenez, who has been one of the most prolific marksmen across Europe since the start of the calendar year, has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs recently.

In fact, it was reported by The Daily Mirror last month that Tottenham had already decided to pay Feyenoord’s asking price for the 22-year-old striker in January after watching him closely this season.

However, Spurs are not the only ones thought to be eyeing a move for the Mexican, with Real Madrid (Fichajes) and Barcelona (Sport) also rumoured to be among the Mexican’s admirers.

A couple of weeks ago, W Deportes stated that Tottenham’s London rivals, Fulham, also hold a serious interest in the Feyenoord star and are ready to make a club-record bid for the player in January.

Tottenham are still looking at Santiago Gimenez

Romano has now said that Gimenez continues to remain on Spurs’ radar, adding that the centre-forward is expected to be available for €45m (£39.2m).

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “It’s important to say that Tottenham keep following Santiago Gimenez. They know the player so well and keep sending scouts to follow the boy. The player could be available for around €45m in January.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If it is true that Tottenham continue to send scouts to watch Gimenez, that confirms that he is on the North London club’s radar but perhaps also shows that the Premier League side are not yet 100 per cent convinced by the 22-year-old.
