Fabrizio Romano says Spurs midfielder is now ‘looking for options’ in January

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is now studying the various options he has in January after splitting with his agent.

Hojbejrg was heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid all summer, with some reports even indicating back in July that Tottenham expected the sale to go through (Daily Mail).

However, in the end, the Dane stayed put at Spurs, with several sources claiming on transfer deadline day that the La Liga side’s offer was not enough to convince the Lilywhites to cash in on the player (Jason Burt).

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is assessing his options

Even though the former Southampton man has not started a single Premier League game for Ange Postecoglou, the Australian has brought him on as a second-half substitute in five of the six league matches so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Last week, the Dane confirmed to Ekstra Bladet (via Sport Witness) that he had parted ways with agent, Pini Zahavi after their agreement expired.

Romano has now taken to social media to suggest that the decision might be linked with Hojbjerg’s future plans, claiming that a January exit is an option for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is difficult to see Hojbjerg getting many starts unless there is an injury to one of Bissouma and Sarr, particularly now that Bentancur is now nearing a return. I have no doubt that the Dane would push for a move in January and that Tottenham would need to sign a replacement.
