Fabrizio Romano says Spurs target’s future could be decided in the ‘next days’

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Victor Roque will meet with the Barcelona hierarchy over the coming days to make a decision on his future.

There was plenty of excitement about Barca’s capture of Roque, with many rating the young forward as one of the best talents to emerge from Brazilian football recently.

However, the 19-year-old has struggled for game time since arriving at Camp Nou and it has been suggested by various outlets that he could be on his way out of the club as early as this summer (TBR Football).

Many publications have pointed out over recent days that Tottenham held a strong interest in the Brazilian last summer before he moved to Catalonia, adding that the North London side have come forward again for the striker (AS).

A few days ago UOL suggested that the centre-forward is not in Xavi Hernandez’s plans and that Barca would be willing to sell him for €45m (£38.7m) this summer.

Romano has now provided an update on Roque’s future, revealing that the striker will meet with Barca’s sporting director Deco over the coming days to discuss his future.

Barcelona will make a decision on Vitor Roque soon

When asked about the speculation over the Brazil international’s future, the journalist told CaughtOffside: “Deco has not decided anything on the future of Vitor Roque yet.

“There will be a meeting between all parties in the next days, and discussions will follow with all parties involved to decide on the player’s future. Some patience is needed on this case among many, many rumours.

“Still, with Financial Fair Play concerns, Barcelona will have to sell some players this summer of course. However, for now, I can guarantee they have not decided anything yet, every day on media it looks like one player is leaving but the reality is that at the moment it’s still quiet.

“For example, Ansu Fati remains one of the players expected to leave and let’s see what kind of proposals they will receive for Raphinha.”

In an ideal world, Barca would likely want to persist with Roque but given their financial situation, one would think that most players in their squad (particularly those who are not regular starters) are on the shop window.

I would expect Tottenham and other Premier League clubs to test the waters with offers for a few of Barca’s fringe players this summer.
