Fabrizio Romano says two midfielders will leave Tottenham this summer

Fabrizio Romano has now declared that both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso will leave Tottenham Hotspur to find new clubs this summer.

The writing now seems on the wall for Hojbjerg, who has been a bit-part player under Ange Postecoglou and has just a year left on his current deal with Tottenham.

Over the last couple of months, a number of Italian publications have talked up the possibility of the Dane moving to Serie A this summer (CalcioMercato).

Meanwhile, reports from Spain over recent months have also backed Lo Celso to exit Tottenham this summer, with the midfielder’s former club, Real Betis, thought to be keen on re-signing the player (Estadio Deportivo).

However, over the last couple of weeks, both TuttoMercatoWeb and Football Insider have suggested that Spurs may actually block the 28-year-old from departing.

Both publications claimed that Ange Postecoglou wants to keep the silky left-footer around as a squad player and the Lilywhites might thus offer him a contract extension.

Hojbjerg and Lo Celso likely to leave Tottenham this summer

However, this has now been contradicted by Romano, who has said on the Here We Go podcast that there is expected to be a mass exodus from Spurs this summer.

He said that one of the names on the chopping block is Hojbjerg, who is expected to start a new chapter of his career away from Hotspur Way.

The journalist also backed Lo Celso to end his five-year stay at Tottenham, explaining that the midfielder is not happy with his current situation at the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Hojbjerg would be allowed to leave but I can understand why Postecoglou might want to keep Lo Celso around as a squad player.

The Argentine is a good fit for our system and would be a valuable option to have, given that he can play as a number eight or a ten. However, I do not think the former Betis star would be too keen to stick around.
